PFARS to celebrate community funded Rescue Truck at Second Annual Community Open House

The Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad will hold its second Annual Community Open House on Sunday, June 5 from 1pm – 3pm at its headquarters – 2 Mount Lucas Road Princeton, NJ  08540.

This annual event celebrates the community for their support of the organization by opening its doors to the public. The community will have the opportunity to meet our EMTs and Rescue Technicians, receive free swag (while supplies last), enjoy ice cream and music, see our ambulances and emergency equipment, and celebrate the arrival of our new rescue truck funded solely through individual, foundation, and corporate support.

To celebrate the new rescue truck at the event we anticipate selling commemorative t-shirts and will be closing out the event with a traditional Push-In of the new vehicle. In the 1800s emergency equipment was pulled by animals to and from a scene. When the animals returned with the equipment, the animals and equipment were cleaned, and the animals returned to their stalls. Because the animals couldn’t back the equipment into the building, the equipment needed to be pushed by hand into the building by the members. The Push-In is a nod to this time by welcoming a new vehicle home with the members pushing it into the building.

The Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad is an independent nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any hospital or medical agency and does not receive funding from the Municipality of Princeton, the State, or Federal Government. 79 % of the Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad’s active EMTs are volunteers.
